World "Go Vegan" Week October 24 - 31





October 24 - 31 is Go Vegan Week and will be celebrated by vegans and non-vegans throughout the world. It is a great time to try out those vegan recipes you always wondered about! There are also tons of delicious premade foods at your local health food store and even a few at the regular old grocery store such as vegan burgers by Boca, no dairy pizza by Amy's etc. Alot of vegan recipes are so tasty that you won't even miss meat and dairy :)
Besides the great recipes there are many other reasons to go vegan for a week such as:
♥ The destruction of the rainforest by cattle farmers is destroying the lungs of the planet & reducing the worlds capacity to replenish our oxygen supply.

♥ It takes 25 gallons of water to produce 1lb of wheat & 2500 gallons to produce ONE LB. OF MEAT.

♥ The world health organization recommends a diet low in saturated fat, sugar, salt & with plenty of fiber - exactly what you get on a vegan diet! A vegan diet is much healthier--vegans have 57% reduced risk of getting heart disease :)

So why don't you try being vegan for a week on Oct.24-31? You have nothing to lose and a whole heck of a lot to gain!

  1. I did not realise it was Vegan Week, perhaps because its only acknowleged the States. Thank you for sharing though. I am not a vegan, (vegetarian) but I do try and incorporate vegan cuisine in my diet often.

  2. Great post! I am a vegetarian and I really do admire vegans, as theirs is a really cruelty-free diet! My beloved is a vegan and he's very strong and healthy, he's on a long bicycle tour right now! And my best friend (who happens to be my cousin) is a vegetarian :)!

  3. Thanks for commenting mangocheeks and Annuk--Being vegetarian is awesome! I was a vegetarian for years and have only been vegan for several months (I was when I was younger and felt better then so I took it up again) Not eating meat/fish/poultry is a wonderful gift to the animals and our planet :)
    Maybe you can try veganism for the week or even one day a week, if you have any questions etc. please feel free to ask me :D ♥♥♥
