Sunflowers!

 “Ah Sunflower, weary of time

 Who countest the steps of the sun;

Seeking after that sweet golden clime

Where the traveller’s journey is done.”

– William Blake

Sunflowers are my very favorite flower,  their big floppy heads-- full of seeds standing incredibly straight upon thin green stems they seem to defy the rules that other flowers must follow.   I can never look at a sunflower without smiling.  They have become a permanent part of my garden, right smack in the middle of my front yard.

The cheery yellow sunflower seems to love the sun as much as we love them--Sunflowers are heliotropic.  Heliotropism refers to species that seem to track or follow the movement of the sun as it travels across the sky from East to West.  The buds and leaves are the parts of the sunflower that do this, the flower itself is pretty much just along for the ride :)  Because of this behavior sunflowers have become a symbol of devotion, longevity, adoration and unwavering faith.  You will find the Helianthus Annuus or Common Sunflower in a lot of my artwork, I simply adore them!  ♥♥

Old Kimba Vs. New Kimba

 Old Artwork Vs. Newer Artwork

Hey Diddle Diddle (sold)
Recently I was going through some older folders with images from several years ago of paintings I did that have sold on like Ebay and ArtbyUs (I miss that web page sooo much!)  I really noticed a difference in my art style!  Not really like a difference in skill as much as just a real difference in the style of my stuff.  I am always amazed at how there are certain artists that you can look at one of the pieces that did and automatically KNOW who the artist is.  They have a STYLE, a way that they paint that you can see running through each of the paintings they do.

It always makes me think, do I have a style?  Can someone look at one of my paintings and just know that it was me who did it, a Kimba piece?  What do you think?

Blue Moon Cats (sold)
Sun Mao (sold)

Untitled Kitty (sold)

Okay so the paintings above are pretty old, sold paintings of mine.  Now here are a couple of newer ones:

Sunflower Siamese
Bros

But this is the most interesting pair here:  They are both paintings of the same thing, one done years ago and one done within the last year.  Pretty cool to see the differences right?
Old Sun Cat (sold)

New Sun Cat

Do you think I have a "style" ?  I would love to know what you think :)
