Can you believe it is already THANKSGIVING??  I can't...  The days are going by faster and faster.  One of our feral kitties was sick this week, acting very strange and seemed like she might have been in a fight or hit by a car--she had a pretty bad cut on her mouth and would cry when she ate.  After speaking with the vet and getting some advice she has gotten a lot better and is almost back to her old self again.  Thank goodnes--well now we have something new to be Thankful for on Thanksgiving  :D

Christmas Cards

Tuxedo Cat Angel Christmas card from KimbasCrittersChristmas is coming!  Here are a couple of cards I made.  The pictures are acrylic paintings and are nice enough (imo) to be framed!  I also handmade the envelopes and lemme tell ya-- the envelopes were harder to make than the cards themselves! lol...  I had to come up with a way for the person that buys the card to be able to close the envelope, so I attached two hearts and hemp string and now you can close the cards by tying the hemp strings--I think it turned out great  :D

Etsy? Oy vey.

I forgot how much work goes into selling art online...Hours spent everyday trying to find new ways to get my work seen by people while I would much rather spend that time painting, but what can ya do?  It really seems like it was a lot easier a few years ago before I had started using Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest etc. , I would just list my work on Ebay and people would buy.  If I only knew that the years I stopped selling online would hurt my ability to sell now I would have forced myself to keep selling no matter what!  When my computer broke and I stopped being able to sell on Etsy and Ebay a few years back I lost all of my repeat buyers and even worse it seems like millions of artists have joined the ranks of Etsy Shop owners.  It gets so incredibly frustrating!  Like I was saying--hours self promoting and listing new items everyday and I have had one single solitary sale since I returned to my Etsy Shop.
Ah well as the saying goes, "you live and learn" and I'll be damned if I stop selling now, lol.  So I read this morning that I should have at least 100 items in my shop to hope to be able to compete with other sellers and I think I have around 37 right now heh.

In other news here: I think our feral friend Frankie the fluffiest schizophrenic kitty is pregnant.  She is usually extremely skittish and scratches if you try to pet her but this week she is being Frankie The Friendliest Cat in America and has been spending the day sitting on my daughter :P

New stuff in my Etsy shop, gearing up for Christmas!  Come take a look!

Gift Tags for Christmas

One Of A Kind Mixed  Media Christmas Tag Set!

I was thinking about the winter holidays this morning and how one of my favorite parts of Christmas was decorating and wrapping the presents.  I love wrapping paper! I love ribbons and bows! I love tags and cards! I have way too much of these things, since I save what ever I don't use and my collections of papers  and tags etc.   is  the stuff of hoarders dreams...  The hallway closet in my house is practically used ONLY for housing these treasures :)

I decided I would add some to my collection and began making tags for this years gifts.  I made some extra for those of you out there who also love decorating gifts as much as giving them!

The first set is a Maine Coon Cat Tag Set:
There are four tags in this set and each is a one of a kind, tiny ( 3 x 1.5 inch work of art.
Each tag features a Maine Coon Cat, handpainted in acrylic on watercolor paper.  Check them out in my Etsy shop!  I will be making a bunch of different ones for the holidays!

Here is my latest painting, "Countryside Kitty"  watercolor 8x10.  I am really enjoying using watercolors!  I haven't used them much in the past but figured I would give them another shot ;P  I like the different effects you can get by using more/less water.

Time to order Custom Pet Portrait Ornaments for Christmas

I make custom Christmas ornaments from polymer clay.  With a photo of a pet I can create one for you! The photos here are some examples of animals I can do and ornaments I've sold.  We have ornaments of our pets and it is always a special and happy time to hang them on the tree and remember fun times we shared with our furry friends.

These make really unique and  thoughtful gifts.  Turtles, birds, rabbits, snakes, rats, ferrets guinea pigs--any pet you have and love can be made into a custom ornament to save and cherish for years to come.

Check out my etsy store page :  Kimba's Critters  or email me and we can talk about your pet!  crimson_nimbus@hotmail.com

I am back

How long does it take someone to get their life back to normal after losing almost everything they own (including their home) to a house fire? Let me tell you--A LONG TIME! It has been over a year and a half since our home burned and we still haven't replaced everything, a lot of which will never be replaced. Our kitties can never be replaced. Artwork and paintings can never be replaced along with photos of my children, clothes and the list goes on. The good news is that our old run down house was rebuilt and almost everything is in working condition now :D I have finally restocked my shipping boxes, mailing labels, business cards and most of my art supplies and have a whole bunch of stuff to add to my Etsy shop and will be offering Pet Portraits and Custom Ornaments again very soon. Thank you to all of you who have stuck around, YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!
